A company in the automotive industry engaged Innovative Solution Partners to help solve a cost data management challenge in its manufacturing facilities in North and Central America.  The client’s reports were manually created and relied heavily on Microsoft Excel, which offers limited data processing and automation options. Because information was never immediately available, plant management found itself in reactive mode when manufacturing costs were rising, causing the management team to miss its projections.

ISP consultants worked with the client to design an elegant solution for data gathering, reporting, and analysis for real time management of production cost data. The vision for the analytics and reporting solution was to help proactively detect potential cost control issues and address cost overruns in a timely manner.

To design and build the system-driven solution, ISP thoroughly reviewed the client’s reporting process.  ISP also consulted with the client’s business and technical teams to ensure that all needs and requirements were documented and addressed in the solution.

The new system collects all relevant information from the company’s disparate systems and consolidates that information into a common master data approach. To provide information on each plant on an on-demand basis, ISP experts designed accessible, user friendly dashboards and easy to interpret reports.

As a result of implementing the analytics and reporting solution ISP developed, the client was able to detect and resolve cost issues and cost overruns immediately, translating into significant savings for the North and Central America plants.  Because of this success, the automotive manufacturer decided to roll out the application across its other business regions so all of its manufacturing sites could benefit. The client also decided to make the application available to Executive-level management because of the visually appealing, user-friendly display of critical cost data.
